Find out which pump is the best for your pool!

Which pump should I choose for my pool, to meet the flow rate requirement?

You must choose a suitable filtration pump that meets the flow rate requirement of your pool.

To do so, you must first determine this required flow rate:

  1. Calculate the volume of your pool in cubic metres. Measure the length, width and depth of your pool. Multiply these dimensions together to find the total volume in cubic metres.
  2. Divide your pool volume by 6 to calculate the useful flow rate of the pump. The general recommendation is that all water in the pool must be filtered within 6 hours. In high season, we recommand that you filter your pool water at least 3 times a day. This is the equivalent of 3 filtration cycles of 6 hours.

Once you have calculated the flow rate, you must choose the pool pump that matches your requirements:

  1. Check the technical characteristics of the pumps and check the maximum flow rate that each one can achieve. Be aware that the given flow rates correspond to a particular pressure value, 8 or 10 mWC (metre of water column). For each installation, these values must be reviewed by the pool installer.
  2. Select a pump that correspond to your pool's flow rate requirement.
  3. Make sure you take into consideration other factors such as the pump power, the compatibility with your filtration system and the specific characteristics of your pool.
