How do I reopen my pool heat pump after the winter?
When spring arrives, you will need to perform light maintenance on your heat pump to ensure the machine works correctly and to extend its lifetime.
Firstly, take off the winter cover.
Before re-connecting the electricity and hydraulics, tighten up the connections on the electrical terminal block, brush the finned exchanger with a soft brush (or air blower, but a high pressure cleaner must not be used) and generally tighten up all screws to avoid any vibrations that may cause undesirable noise. (Annual atmospheric pressure variations will loosen screws of all kinds.)
You can now reconnect the hydraulics. Check carefully that the valves are watertight while they are being opened.
And lastly, all that remains is to reconnect the electricity supply to restart the heat pump.
Once the power is connected, remember to adjust the bypass.
Allow the heat pump to run 24h a day until the setpoint is reached. It will then regulate itself according to its requirement.
For certain machines, an accredited professional must come to check that the refrigerant circuit is watertight. (Refer to the manual to find out if this maintenance step applies to your heat pump)
