What functions should I take into account when selecting a heat pump for my pool?
When choosing the heat pump for your pool, several functions should be taken into consideration:
- Type of heat pump: this could be an ON/OFF heat pump or a Full Inverter heat pump. Full Inverter models are able to implement a rapid temperature rise and maintain the temperature precisely at a setpoint throughout the season. Energy savings of up to 30% can be made, compared to an ON/OFF model.
- Heating capacity: check the heating capacity of the heat pump, expressed in kilowatts (kW), to ensure it is suitable for the size of your pool.
- Performance coefficient (COP): consider the COP for the heat pump, which indicates its energy efficiency. A high COP indicates higher efficiency.
- Control functions: look for functions such as programming, temperature regulation and operating modes to optimise the use of your heat pump.
- Sound level: it is useful to take into account the sound level of the heat pump, especially if the pool is close to noise-sensitive areas. With Full Inverter technology, the pump operates at a very slow speed, thereby reducing the sound level to a swish of moving air (approximately 30dB).
- Installation and maintenance: you must ensure that installation of the heat pump is possible in your environment, and check the regular maintenance requirements for the appliance.
